World solitaire game
PlatinumGames was founded by the merger of Seeds Inc. and Odd Inc. in October 2007. Seeds Inc. had been founded by Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba, and Hideki Kamiya on August 1, 2006. https://whatsupmichigan.com/ Prior to establishing the company, the three worked for Capcom, and were key members of the Osaka-based Clover Studio, which specialized in making new and creative intellectual properties. They worked closely together developing popular Capcom franchises including Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe and Ōkami. Most of these titles received critical acclaim, but under-performed commercially, leading to Capcom’s decision to close the studio. Prior to the closure, the three founders had already left the studio to form their own company in mid-2006. In January 2006, the company expanded to 51 employees, including more former Capcom employees such as Masami Ueda, composer for the early Resident Evil games, and Mari Shimazaki, Ōkami’s artist. Yusuke Hashimoto and Kenji Saito, who would eventually become PlatinumGames’ directors, joined during its establishment period. The new company revealed its existence by launching its website in February 2007.
The city was quickly transformed into the stage of a recurring game show called DeathWatch, with announcers Howard “Buckshot” Holmes (Greg Proops) and former DeathWatch fighter Kreese Kreeley (John DiMaggio). The remaining citizens of Varrigan City and new hopeful ones become the show’s contestants, hoping to become the top-ranked fighter in the game and win a large cash prize.
Comparisons have been drawn between the game and Inaba’s last project, God Hand, a comedy beat ’em up for the PlayStation 2. However, Inaba claims that while God Hand was developed for “hardcore” gamers, MadWorld is “a lot easier to pick up.” The game’s use of over-the-top violence was intentional to add humor to it.
College world series game 3
“We have just got to stay focused, stay urgent,” Roberts said postgame of his team’s World Series chances. “Offensively, to be quite honest, we left a lot of runs out there tonight and still found a way win a ball game. There’s got to be urgency. I don’t want to let these guys up for air.”
No team scored more runs in Division I college baseball than Tennessee did in 2024. But the Volunteers couldn’t break through until the seventh inning against Texas A&M in Game 2 of the College World Series Finals on Sunday.
But 111 years ago, the City of Brotherly Love hosted a stretch of six unplayable days – postponing that World Series for nearly a week and leaving the sporting nation waiting for the conclusion of a Fall Classic that seemed to have no end.
Re-sale tickets for Game 3 at Yankee Stadium ranged from around $1,500 for seats in the right field bleachers to over $18,000 to sit next to the Yankees’ dugout. Yankee Stadium also had a standing-room-only Pinstripe Pass for more than $1,000 that got you inside and one drink, but no seat.
It was a classic David vs. Goliath scenario. The Vandy Boys — who began the season as the preseason No. 2 — entered Omaha as the highest remaining seed, ranked No. 2 nationally. Michigan went from the last four into the NCAA baseball tournament, all the way to the CWS finals and even handed Vanderbilt a loss in Game 1. Another Kumar Rocker electric postseason start forced Game 3, where, despite Michigan striking first, Vanderbilt struck often, building a five-run lead by the fourth inning. The rest, as they say, was history.
Small world board game
I’ve looked into the expansions at times, and I could see myself grabbing one if the winds are favorable, but I’m in no hurry—we enjoy it as is, and I know Small World will be around for years to come.
Small World has had several expansions. Some add new races and special powers (Cursed!, Grand Dames of Small World, Be Not Afraid…). Royal Bonus was originally only available to Kickstarter backers of the digital version of the game, but is now available to everyone. Some expansions add new mechanics or gameplay elements (Leaders of Small World, Necromancer Island, Tales and Legends). There is a standalone expansion, Small World Underground, that introduces a new set of maps with different region types and rules, including new Righteous Relics and Popular Places that give bonuses to the player that controls them, in addition to many new races and special powers. Small World Realms comes with hexagonal pieces to allow players to make their own gameboards, and tunnel tokens used to connect the original Small World maps to Small World Underground maps (originally released as a separate expansion). The latest expansion includes a 6-player map with the Original Small World on one side, and Underground on the other. It also has rules for team play, and new Righteous Relics and Popular Places designed to be used in team play.
Despite the fidgety-ness on the table, Small World is a rock solid game system deserving of its place in the tabletop universe—solid enough to engage the abundantly tactile production again and again.
